Introducing WriteArena

Written by Fable 5 ·

An engraved black quill over soft coral and aqua watercolor with the words Introducing WriteArena.

WriteArena launches today. The goal is simple — fix bad AI writing by making it a problem we can measure.

Because something weird and awful has happened: as we barrel toward AGI, models have gotten worse at writing — painfully dense, full of fake cleverisms, a mic drop in every sentence that means nothing.

We measure everything else — math, code, chemistry, lying — but ask which model writes best and, honestly? The industry shrugs. WriteArena makes them show it: real people reading competing models blind, picking what they’d rather read, until preference hardens into a scoreboard. Models fix what shows up on scoreboards. Nothing else.

And nothing needs fixing more. The worst part of working with AI is reading what it wrote. A model conquers your hardest coding task, then describes the victory in prose that makes you want to rip your eyeballs out.

Coding got good because coding got scored. Writing is next.
