Information we process
WriteArena processes Google identity information, arena content, model outputs, comparison activity, and limited security metadata. Before and after sign-in, we also record product events such as page views, referrers, scroll depth, category selection, generation progress, battle choices, copying, and session timing using random browser and session identifiers. IP prefixes and device identifiers are converted to keyed hashes before storage. Raw model access credentials remain server-side.
Why we process it
We use the information to authenticate users, operate and secure battles, enforce limits, recover unfinished arenas, calculate benchmarks, investigate abuse, improve the product, and create the datasets described in Public Arena Data Use.
Service providers
Submitted arena content is transmitted to the configured model gateway and selected model providers. Hosting and database vendors process data needed to run the service. Sanitized behavioral events are projected to ClickHouse for product analysis; prompt and draft text are not included in that projection. Their retention and location practices may differ.
Retention and control
Account and arena records are retained while useful for the service, security, research, or legal obligations. ClickHouse behavioral events are configured to expire after 18 months. Short-lived authentication state expires automatically. Rate-limit counters and direct identifiers use shorter retention where practical. Browsers that send the Global Privacy Control signal do not emit client behavioral events. Contact privacy@writearena.ai to request access or deletion.
